DJ’ing at The Engineer in Harpenden, Hertfordshire

Monday, August 15th, 2016

Last weekend I played a wedding at The Engineer in Harpenden. This was a great disco as the sun was shining people were in good spirits when I arrived and we even had an Elvis tribute act to add to the fun!Engineer Harpenden

Music wise I ended up playing a summery house set which was well received and seemed to keep the atmosphere relaxed but buoyant.

It was a smallish setup but I did turn one half of the speakers into the conservatory area so music could be heard in different rooms. I took a couple of moving head lights and a laser. The venue had a fire not too long ago so the smoke machine was not allowed but with relatively low ceilings it was not really missed too much.

I know a few people asked me for cards on the night which I didn’t have with me so hopefully you will find me on the internet and I am happy to play London as well as Hertfordshire as was requested on the day.

See you again soon.

ACSUPREME Mobile Disco in Hertfordshire Update

Tuesday, September 17th, 2013

So my last post was in July! Summer has been busy and I have been playing out all across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire with a disco also in Essex. I have mainly been doing weddings but have seen an increase in people having birthday parties again.

pioneer-ddj-sxWhat’s happened on the setup, I have upgraded my DJ controller to the pioneer DDJ-SX which is alot of fun and allows me many more features and effects in the mix. If you haven’t seen it have a look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR-T5wnk2VE some of the cool stuff you can do is displayed here. I have been getting to grips with it at home and am now taking it out on the road with me.

I do still use my CD player though for some gigs and still love using this but have to keep up with the times and the digital age is certainly making huge strides in quality of performance now.

I’m not quite up to speed yet with the review area on my site which is run by FreeIndex. I had an email advising of some changes to the service so the disco reviews have not been updated for a while. I am still getting good feedback at discos though for my performances.

The market seems to have a number of cheap DJ’s entering if what I am hearing is correct in terms of some quotes people have received. As always though I feel you get what you pay for. With the new technology available there are some cheap controllers available now, you can even plug it into your ipad and mix using a small controller which is crazy, but not for playing out in my opinion. I think some people are starting out at this low base where as I am using top of the market controllers to make sure there is no failure on the night. The ipad does offer some software and features to suppliment equipment though and as a support item rather than a reliance it can work very well.

I am still mainly doing discos in Hertfordshire, although have picked up a few in Buckinghamshire recently and am running a quote to play a number of christmans parties in December in Chesham.

Hope to speak to you soon, and if not I hope to be the DJ at the next party you are at!

Regards

Last weekend I played at Offley Place Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire. I would say the party went well but it was a good crowd which always helps!

Most annoying phone calls in Hertfordshire

Friday, April 26th, 2013

This blog is completely off piste in terms of promoting the disco services of acsupreme but am I the only company that gets the most annoying phone calls in Hertfordshire from people trying to sell me advertising on google? I doubt it but the amount I get is ridiculous, they surely can’t have time to phone anyone else.

Had a call like this?

Hello, can I speak to the owner of the business?

How are you today? Here you are meant to say fine thank you, I find stressed is a suitable alternative, not sure that is on the script but they power through anyway!

Have you heard of Google?

How would you like to feature on the front page for 5 key terms?

Basically how it works is you give us £99 and we buy adwords if you are lucky at a cheaper than retail rate for long key terms and think we are wonderful, how does that sound?

Or you get, how is your advertising on yell.com (replace with any online directory) doing for you?

Could it be better? You are meant to answer yes it could be better by the way, if you say it’s superb I couldn’t cope with any more enquiries from this fantastic site they are kinda stumped!

I find that the most annoying phone calls in Hertfordshire are quite persistent and although I explain to them I will never require their services the calls continue often from the same companies and even the same staff. Staff turnover is extremely high in this business it seems if you ask how long the people have worked for the most annoying phone calls in Hertfordshire company the answer is usually a week or two, month at best.

The simple result is to make them do their research, if they have found your business to call you the chances are you are featured on google, (They don’t even check). Know the key terms you feature for using google analytics or your own research and ask them to try them. Illustrate you are on the front page and they will leave you alone for a week or two at best!

Think I’ll start to list the most annoying phone calls in Hertfordshire and see if that has any effect on their volume! Call me now to feature here, I know I can expect you any minute!

Anyway rant over, if you need a disco I am more than happy to help if I can.

Disco in Markyate Village Hall, Hertfordshire

Monday, February 25th, 2013

Last Thursday I was in Markyate Village Hall in Hertfordshire providing a disco for a 16th brithday party. It was a busy and vibrant night with about 100 teens throwing shapes all night. I had not played the Markyate Village Hall before but did use the full setup as this is often best for a younger persons party, as it has the best disco lighting and sound system.

I would say the sound system in the hall sounded very loud which is how they wanted it. My ears were certainly ringing after this one, but it all added to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately I was unable to use the smoke machine due to the alarm system which would have been the icing on the cake for this venue.

Hopefully I will be providing Disco’s in Markyate again soon.

Monday, January 28th, 2013

It’s been a busy week for bookings at Hanbury Manor in Ware, Hertfordshire. I have quoted for 3 gigs there this week which is nice as it is a quality venue. I have quoted for Poles Hall and the Garden Suite.

16th Birthday Party in Hatfield

Monday, December 17th, 2012

Last Friday I played a 16th Birthday party in Hatfield at Club Havilland. I was actually booked through the venue itself. I must say the staff were very friendly especially Shane who booked me. The party was a huge success and I received some really good feedback over the weekend from the mother of the birthday girl. The venue actually had some of its own lighting which worked really well with the mobile disco lighting I supplied in addition.
